Follows the complex and controversial events surrounding the 2006 Mexican presidential race between former populist Mexico City mayor Andres Manuel LÃ³pez Obrador and conservative, pro-business Felipe CalderÃ³n Hinojosa, and the bitter aftermath. The Presidential race was a virtual tie, but electoral officials determined that the CalderÃ³n Hinojosa had edged LÃ³pez Obrador by 243,000 votes, out of 41 million cast. LÃ³pez Obrador and his legions of supporters naturally raised accusations of widespread voting fraud, leading to a civil disobedience campaign that continues to this day.
