1.5 million aliens stranded on Earth, in a refugee camp in Johannesburg Africa, with their spaceship hovering above, for a period of 20yrs. How could District 9 be disappointing in any way? The movie was filmed in a post-event manner which I liked; people talking about the aliens, the main character (Wilkus) and things that occurred up to the climatic events before the reports were taken. I saw many references to real-life issues in this film ranging from the poor treatment of refugees by government entities, scams executed by Nigerians and the prejudices/fears caused by being comfortable with something/someone that is different that you. Kudos to the creators of this story for going that route. This movie may leave you with some questions about (Where? How? When? Why?) in various parts of the movie, it did for me. It's our nature to want to know more! My questions aren't enough to warrant a sequel, but I do want to know what happens to some of the characters in the movie afterwards. I was pleased with the movie visually. The interaction with the aliens and humans was not unbelievable, the action scenes were engaging and seemed feasible. And, the blood splattering was not overdone! For any one that digs science-fiction, I recommend this movie. Peace
