For me the G.I. Joe experience was bitter sweet. I was both entertained and disgusted. The movie was filled with great action scenes, sprinkled with humor, powered by a respectable comic book style plot and spoiled by horrible special effects.
The flick was by no means as serious as ‘The Dark Knight’ but the acting and was respectable if you’re just looking for an action fix.
However, it was extremely obvious that the majority of the budget was spent on location expenses and marketing. The graphic work was as cheesy as it gets. To put it mildly, this movie would have been great for the late 90s. Very cartoony in certain parts... especially the large battle scenes.
In the end, kids will love it because they have lower standards. I liked it because Marlon aka RipCord got the redhead (well sort-of).
Hopefully, the sequel will be better.
