Luke's Light Saber Goes for a Quarter of Million!!!
Written By: James Lincoln     Posted On: December 15, 2008

LOS ANGELES - The first thing any Jedi needs is a light saber. That's Star Wars 101. It doesn't matter how powerful the 'Force' is within you. The light saber is a must have. If not for fighting off dozens of storm troopers, for doing cool party tricks.

Last Thursday, one fan spent $240,000 to get the real thing: the prop that Mark Hamill used in the first two movies in the original "Star Wars" trilogy.

The light saber highlighted several Hollywood memorabilia sold at an auction in Los Angeles by Profiles in History.

The auction house said it sold about $3.5 million in memorabilia. Hmmm, I think that's more than the budget was for the first Star Wars film.

Other notable items sold at the auction: The droid helmet worn by Anthony Daniels to play C-3PO sold for $120,000, and the costume Marlon Brando wore in the "Superman" movie went for $72,000.
